About Us

The Singapore Computer Society launched its Interactive Digital Media (IDM) Chapter on the 17th of April 2009.

By establishing a vibrant community of IDM practitioners, the SCS IDM Chapter is formed to play an active role in the formation of a creative society through the development of interactive media industries. The Chapter aims to increase recognition and employability of IDM professionals and aspirants through training and upgrading of skills. In addition to the promotion of IDM and its developments in the IT industry, the Chapter will also work towards filling manpower gaps through facilitating linkages among IDM talents, job placement and industry projects.

Plans discussed between private and government agencies have been put in place regarding the organising of events such as symposiums, workshops and forums to enable IDM practioners to network, thus bringing about the sharing, updating and exchanging of ideas to increase the awareness of current developing trends in the interactive digital media. This provides professional support to IDM practitioners to tap on the valuable knowledge critical to their career development.

In cultivating the young talents of Singapore, the Chapter plans to jointly organise animation competition with the Student Chapters of the Singapore Computer Society. The grooming of young IDM potentials is essential to the promotion of innovation as well as to the sustenance of the IDM industry. Works of students will be showcased to recognise the talents which will consequently provide a platform for the IDM industry to tap on fresh ideas and recruits.

The Chapter is working towards attracting both local and regional talents to be members of the Chapter. With a good mix of talents, the Chapter will be able to contribute more to the progress and competitiveness of Singapore’s IDM industry.
