Mr Liak Teng Lit
Mr Liak Teng Lit is the Chief Executive Officer of the Alexandra Hospital, Singapore. He joined the hospital in February 2000 and has played a pivotal role in restructuring the hospital, both in its services and corporate image.
Under his leadership and guidance, Alexandra Hospital has received several awards, namely, ISO 9001 and ISO 14000, People Developer Standard, Singapore Quality Class, Health (Platinum), Family Friendly Employer, S.H.A.R.E. (Platinum), Public Service Organisational Excellence, National Innovation & Quality Circles, Singapore Environmental Achievement and Community in Bloom Awards.
Mr Liak has been in the healthcare since 1977 and began his career as a pharmacist. He has held senior positions in various hospitals including Changi General Hospital (aka Toa Payoh Hospital) as Chief Executive Officer. Mr Liak serves on various boards and committees including the Community Chest, National Volunteer Philanthropy Centre Board, NTUC Childware Co-Operative Ltd, Promote Mandarin Council, Singapore Tourism Board, Skills Development Fund (SDF), Victoria Advisory Committee and Water Network.
He is a regular speaker on hospital management practices and makes frequent trips to hospitals in China to share his expertise.
With the aim for the new hospital to be a hassle-free, Mr Liak is instrumental in forging various partnerships to leverage on information technology as a key enabler to facilitate flow of information, improve quality of care delivery and coordination, and optimise process efficiency, thus leading to safe effective outcomes in treatment.
Mr Liak is a strong advocate of healthy living. Always encouraging the hospital staff to pursue a healthy lifestyle and engage in exercises to keep fit and trim, Mr Liak is an avid runner himself, doing his running regimes in the morning before starting work at the hospital. Mr Liak has recently completed the full marathon in the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon.
