Mr Lo Min Ming
Technology binds people. This is a belief that Lo Min Ming not only preaches, but practices. To him, technology
does not just make work easier – it should bring people closer.
This is seen in his software product People Connect. Business executives often find it difficult to schedule a
meeting or even hold a video conference. This tool enhances time management of meetings by browsing through
different schedules of business executives to find a common time slot. Running on a wireless mobile network,
it transcends geographical barriers, time zones and complexity of schedules to achieve suitable slots for meetings.
This dynamic tool not only coordinates complex schedules effectively, it also bridges communication by drawing people
closer. More details of his People Connect can be found on

The People Connect is one of several projects undertaken by Min Ming when he was a student at Nanyang Polytechnic
(NYP). The project was the first to be commercialised in 2004, showing the entrepreneurial side of Min Ming. Other
innovative projects have also won him several awards. One such project is a mobile application that promotes Singapore’s
tourist attractions through interactive games. It won the top prize in the Best of Code Jam category of the Wireless
Java Jam 2004 competition.
Min Ming graduated from NYP in 2004 with the Gold Medal for Diploma in Information Technology. He was also presented the
distinguished Lee Kuan Yew Award, making him the top technology graduate for that year. His exemplary conduct and quest
to learn and innovate makes him a good role model for his peers. His achievements also helped inspired other students to do well.
With a heart for community service, Min Ming always makes time to contribute through different projects. And he never fails to inject his passion for technology into his projects. The launch of this portal in January 2005 has enabled the School to reach out more
effectively to the parents.
In an overseas community project by the Singapore International Foundation, Min Ming and his fellow NYP students set up an
IT laboratory in a youth centre in Laos P.D.R. He also customised a training session for the local youths, teaching them
basic computer skills.
Min Ming has many ideas on improving the interactivity of the SCS website to provide a good home front for IT professionals.
He led a team to revamp the Society’s website.
While working as a development technologist at Nanyang Polytechnic, Min Ming was trained for the World Skills Competition 2005 to represent Singapore in the IT Software Application category at this competition. Apart from his technology pursuits, Min Ming is also a Weiqi enthusiast. He has represented Singapore at international Weiqi competitions since Primary 4. In 2003, he represented NYP at the Thai University Go Competition, in which he clinched the third place.
Min Ming, a high-achiever, academically and technically, is also warm at heart, using his IT skills and competence to help
society in his special way.
