The objective of this mentoring program is to help develop the future IT leaders in Singapore by providing opportunities for the young professionals to learn from SCS Exco, committee and members of SCS who are leaders of IT industry.

The mentors are professionals and management from leading IT organizations who volunteer their time for this cause. Most of the mentors are members, senior members of the Singapore Computer Society who has extensive coaching and mentoring experience and holds management or leadership positions in their organizations.

To participate in the SCS mentoring program, the candidate must be an SCS member for a start. The potential candidate will need to submit an application form through the SCS secretariat and provide personal information through the resume/ CV and a short description of the career goals and mentorship objective. Each year, only 10 candidates will be selected for mentoring, so the selection process will include an interview and qualification before the final assignment of the mentor.

The mentor/mentee will be kept in contact through regular scheduled one to one meetings, e-mail, or a simple lunch. This will be informal. The mentor will provide informal advice on aspects of IT careers, specialisation, industry trends. All discussions will be kept in confidence. There will be no evaluation or assessment of the mentee, only supportive guidance and constructive criticism.
The mentor will help the young member to establish a professional network through networking events. There will also be opportunities for short term projects available in SCS to facilitate interaction and learning. A successful program should help contribute significantly to a young professionals in his/her career development and job satisfaction in the IT industry.
