1. What are the benefits of being certified as COMIT?
Being certified as a COMIT attests to having the depth and breadth of knowledge and experience in outsourcing management. It also gives professional recognition to an individual in the marketplace.

2. Am I eligible?
The Certification is intended for:
- those intending to make a career as IT project or outsourcing manager
- IT professionals and executives who are engaged in IT outsourcing as a service provider or in a client environment
- experienced project or outsourcing manager who wants to attain recognised professional qualification

3. If I do not have a recognised degree, can I apply to be a COMIT?
Yes, you can still apply for COMIT (Associate) or COMIT. However, you will need additional year(s) of experience in IT outsourcing management. Please refer to the Certification Criteria.

4. Can non-members take part in this Certification Programme?
Yes, non-members can apply for certification and membership at the same time. All applicants and COMIT must be SCS members.

5. Can telco professionals take part in COMIT?
Yes, infocomm and telco professionals from the telco industry are welcomed to apply.

About COMIT Certification

6. When is the certification enrolment?
Enrolment is in May and November.

7. Does COMIT certification cover network and infrastructure outsourcing projects?
Yes, networking and infrastructure outsourcing projects are covered under the COMIT certification.

8. When will my certification expire?
The tenure of the COMIT certification is 5 years. COMIT holders must keep SCS membership valid and apply for re-certification to maintain the professional title.

9. What is the difference between CITPM and COMIT?
CITPM covers the essential PM skills required of any IT Project Manager while COMIT covers the skills required to initiate & manage IT outsourcing projects. Different skillsets are required for COMIT, e.g. The first seven skillsets laid down in this prospectus are specific to COMIT. COMIT emphasises on skills required to manage various phases of outsourcing from establishing an outsourcing strategy to contract termination and turnback.

10. Which are the universities that have accredited COMIT?
COMIT has attained accreditation with local universities to grant waiver of certain modules of their Masters programmes. Details can be found at this link: http://www.scs.org.sg/COMIT/CT_acc.asp

About Course and Exam

11. Do I have to take the COMIT course and examination to attain certification?
Yes, if you have less than 3 years of experience in IT outsourcing management (for degree holders) or less than 4 years of experience in IT outsourcing management (for non degree holders).

12. Who is the current appointed course and examination agent?
The appointed course and examination agent is Institute of Systems Science.

13. Is the COMIT course and examination funded?
Tthe COMIT course is accredited under the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications System (WSQ) for Infocomm. Participants can get 50% funding through the Singapore Workforce Agency. Terms and conditions apply.

14. Is examination compulsory?
NO, exam is not compulsory for application of:
COMIT (Associate) if you are a
- degree holder with at least 3 years of IT outsourcing management experience
- non-degree holder with at least 4 years of IT outsourcing management experience

COMIT if you are a
- degree holder with at least 6 years of IT outsourcing management experience
- non-degree holder with at least 8 years of IT outsourcing management experience

Note: For non-exam route, you need to submit Service Competency Report.

YES, exam is compulsory for application of:
COMIT (Associate) if you are a
- degree holder with less than 3 years of IT outsourcing management experience
- non-degree holder with less than 4 years of IT outsourcing management experience

Note: For exam route, you need not to submit Service Competency Report.

15. Is it necessary to attend the COMIT courses?
For degree holders with less than 3 years and non-degree holders with less than 4 years of IT outsourcing management experience:
- the 7-day ISS “COMIT Preparation” course & exam are COMPULSORY

For degree holders between 3 and 5 years and non-degree holders between 4 and 7 years of IT outsourcing management experience:
- a recognised course on IT outsourcing management for practitioners are COMPULSORY

For degree holders with 6 years or more and non-degree holders 8 years or more IT outsourcing management experience:
- a recognised course on IT outsourcing management for practitioners is NOT COMPULSORY but strongly encouraged

Note: All candidates are required to attend the ISS “Project Management for Information Systems” course or equivalent courses (those with CITPM or PMP are exempted).

16. When are examinations held?
Examinations are held twice a year in January and July.

17. When will the ISS courses commence?
