Yeo Quan Yang is a Computer Science undergraduate at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He developed an interest in Information Security in 2006 and taught himself PHP, a popular general-purpose scripting language that is suited to web development. In 2013, he enrolled at NUS to expand his knowledge of Information Security.
In his first year at NUS, Quan Yang founded NUS Greyhats, an interest group that aims to foster collaboration and promote interest in Information Security in NUS. Currently in its third year, NUS Greyhats has over 15 members and has helped spread awareness of the importance of Information Security amongst junior colleges and polytechnics, as well as amongst industry professionals. Quan Yang has participated in and won many national and international competitions including Singapore Cyber Conquest organised by the Cyber Security Agency, NUS Hackers' Hack & Roll and the National Infocomm Security Competition organised by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore. He also won the first prize for the ALICTF 2016 organised by the Alibaba Security Team.
Apart from these national and international accolades, Quan Yang has a stellar academic record and achieved Dean's List for four semesters. In 2014, he was awarded the PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Outstanding Award for Whole Leadership, an award given to the most outstanding students in Computing. He is also a recipient of the National Infocomm Scholarship (NIS) award from the then Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore.
Earlier this year, Quan Yang secured an internship with Google Switzerland, where he was a Software Engineering Intern in the Security and Privacy team. He is expected to complete his honours degree this year.
