What is the Certified IT Project Management Programme?
The Certified IT Project Manager is an essential and highly coveted title for those in IT project management. Today, the CITPM prorgamme is

Who can apply for the CITPM Certification?
The IT Project Management Certification programme is for those who intend to make a career in information systems or communications technology as an IT project manager and those who are an experienced project manager who wants recognised professional qualifications. The Certification assesses your competence level on 12 areas of IT project management.

What recognition will I gain after obtaining certification?
Upon certification, you will be awarded either:
Certified IT Project Manager, CITPM(Associate);
Certified IT Project Manager, CITPM or
Certified IT Project Manager (Senior), CITPM(Senior)

ELIGIBILITY

Am I eligible?
You are eligible to apply for CITPM if you have meet the following minimum requirements:

Professional Experience
Exams/Report
CITPM (Associate) 1 year of ITPM experience

3 years of ITPM experience
CITPM 8 years of IT with 4 years in ITPM Submit Project Experience Report*

Project scope: $1m in cost or 5 man-years in size
CITPM (Senior) 10 years of IT with 7 years in ITPM
*Report length: 1 project only (minimum 2,000 words)


Can non-members take part in the Certification Programme?
All applicants must be current SCS members or apply for SCS membership together with the application for certification.

It is a mandatory requirement for certified professionals to keep their SCS membership valid through the five years of certification tenure. 

ABOUT COURSE & EXAMINATION

Do I have to take the IT Project Management Examination to attain certification?
No, unless you are applying for CITPM (Associate) via exams route.

The Institute of Systems Science (ISS) has appointed by SCS, conducts the IT Project Management examination four times a year, in February, May, August and November. For more information on the examination, contact ISS at 6516-2020.

Who are the approved training providers?
The Institute of Systems Science (ISS) and COMAT Training Services have appointed by SCS, conducts the CITPM Preparatory Course. For more information on the course schedule, contact ISS at 6516-2020 or COMAT at 6436 4733.

UPGRADE

How can I be upgraded to CITPM after I have obtained the CITPM (Associate) title?
A CITPM (Associate) who acquires at least another 2 years of IT project management experience after conferment may apply for upgrading to CITPM. If successful, the new CITPM title will be valid for five years from the date of the conferment of the new title. When applying to be upgraded, the CITPM (Associate) is required to submit a project experience report and the appropriate application fees. The project experience report should focus on the largest project meeting a project team size of at least 5 man-years or a project cost of minimum S$1 million.

When can I be upgraded to Certified IT Project Manager (Senior) Level?
A CITPM who acquires at least another 2 years of IT project management experience after conferment may apply for upgrading to CITPM (Senior). If successful, the new CITPM (Senior) title will be valid for five years from the date of the conferment of the new title. When applying to be upgraded, the CITPM is required to submit a project experience report and the appropriate application fees. The project experience report should focus on the largest project meeting a project team size of at least 20 man-years or a project cost of minimum S$5 million.

How long does the certification last?
All certified IT Project Managers are required to be re-certified every 5 years.

When is the Certification enrolment?
Enrolment is open twice a year in May (2 May - 31 May) and November (1 Nov - 30 Nov) for those who are applying for the certification via the report submission route.

How else can I obtain more information about the Certification Programme?
SCS conducts preview talks twice a year on "Preparing for CITPM Certification" in February and August. Registration for the talks will be opened in the month of January and July respectively. Please look out for details via the SCS website at www.scs.org.sg

What happens after I enrol?
Your application will be validated by the SCS Certification Secretariat and subsequently examined by the Board of Assessors. There may be occasions where assessors may interview the candidate for a thorough understanding of his/her professional background and aptitude.
