The CMSQ examination tests the candidate for professional competence in both the principles and practices of software quality assurance, demonstrates knowledge of the skills and capabilities necessary to manage the software quality assurance function and an objective assessment of their management skills.
The examination consists of two parts and tests the candidate's knowledge in the following areas:
- Quality Leadership
- The Quality Assurance Function
- Quality Planning and Execution
- Communications and Relationships
Part One - Constructed response / essay (6 questions each - subjective / 75 minute time limit).
Part Two - Constructed response / essay (6 questions each - subjective / 75 minute time limit).
There is a total of 12 questions and the examination will take over 2.5 hours to complete which includes an optional 10 minute break after Part one. Candidate must attain an overall average of 70% or above in the two-parts examination to obtain the Certified CSQA Title.
Candidate is to schedule their examination at the Software Certification Customer Portal (Here) after registering the participation of CMSQ Certification with SCS. Step by step guidelines on examination scheduling will be sent to candidate upon registration.
Please note that the candidate is strongly encourage to complete the CMSQ examination as soon as possible after registration. The Certification Candidacy begins the date the application fee was processed in the Software Certification Customer Portal i.e. candidate is to key in the voucher code provided by SCS in the Portal. The candidate then has 12 months from that date to take the initial examination or the candidacy will officially expire.
Registration with SCS is required to activate the expired candidacy to attempt the CMSQ examination again.
Candidate who do not pass the first attempt examination or a no show to prior scheduled examination are eligible to retake / resit for the examination as long as their candidacy application is still active and has not yet expired (see Certification Candidacy). The retake fee is $100 US per retake payable to Software Certification.
