Mr Liu Lung Hao
IT Youth, 2018
Having developed a keen interest in IT when he was young, Lung Hao learnt how to program a robot in primary school and captained the school's Robotics CCA. Driven with an unrelenting passion to learn more, he went on to pick up the skill of assembling a computer by himself and began doing freelance PC repairs via online forums. Recognising his flair and talent for IT, the school tasked him to maintain the blogsite for his school's St John Ambulance CCA at Anderson Secondary School which he still does to this date. In recognition of his contributions to the school, Lung Hao has been awarded the Friend of Anderson 2016 award during the 46th Annual Speech and Prize Giving Day for his active leadership and involvement in the school after his graduation in 2012
Prior to his 'O' Level examinations, Lung Hao was offered a place in the Diploma in Information Technology course at Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) via the Direct Polytechnic Admission scheme. Upon admission, he was awarded the NYP-Oracle Industry Scholarship in recognition of his excellent 'O' level examination results. During his course of study in NYP, Lung Hao participated in various competitions such as the SMU Innovate IT competition in 2014 where his team achieved a merit award. These experiences spurred him on to continuously upgrade and hone his skills. His effort and tenacity paid off in his final year project, eSpeech Therapist , which clinched first runner-up in the 2015 Microsoft Imagine Cup competition.
Lung Hao also joined the Microsoft Student Partner Program (MSP) and had multiple internships with Microsoft Singapore. He was later appointed Singapore Programme Lead for Microsoft Student Partner in 2015, leading 65 MSPs to complete over 80 technical workshops and events, reaching out to 10,000 students across 12 Institutes of Higher Learning.
Lung Hao and his teams obtained two major awards during the NYP Student Talent & Achievement Recognition (STAR) Awards 2016. His final year project team was awarded the NYP Innovation & Creativity (Group) STAR Award in acknowledgement of the success of their final year project which demonstrated their ingenuity and innovation. In recognition of their talents and passion in non-academic areas, his MSP team was awarded the NYP Special Achievement (Group) STAR Award for their dedication as evangelists of technology inside and outside the school campus.
Lung Hao began his entrepreneur venture in late 2013 when he started his company, Feezmodo, by taking on freelance projects through word of mouth from his clients and partners. Four years later, not only has he gathered more than 15 industry partners, Lung Hao has also won the Microsoft Singapore 2017 Technology for Good Recognition Award for his contributions in providing pro bono IT consultation and services to non-profit organisations.
