Mr Chak Kong Soon

Chak has been a part of the tech industry for more than 30 years. His passion in building and nurturing organisations led him to start Stream Global Pte Limited, a local "Venture Catalyst". Stream Global invests and partners with entrepreneurs to help them realise their full potential. Experienced partners in Stream Global act as mentors to these entrepreneurs, providing them with hands on business guidance to steer them towards their goals.
In partnership with Media Development Authority (MDA), now known as Info-communications Media Development Authority of Singapore (IMDA) and the National Research Foundation (NRF), Stream Global has jointly invested in start-ups in both Singapore and the region over the past years.
Chak is very passionate about developing the skills and professionalism of the tech industry in Singapore. He contributes and share his industry experience by serving as a Board Member in the Institute of System Sciences of the National University of Singapore and Employment and Employability Institute (e2i). Chak is also a member of the Academic Advisory Board of the IT schools in Institute of Technical Education (ITE), Singapore Polytechnic and Singapore Management University Academy.
Chak also actively participates in various committees chaired by IMDA and the Singapore Computer Society (SCS). He was also a Board Member of External Examiner Board for Certified IT Project Management (CITPM) examination.
Chak has been recognised for his achievements in the Information Technology and Entrepreneurship arena. He was awarded the "Young Professional of the Year" at the SCS IT Leader Awards in 1999, and was a finalist in the Rotary - Association of Small and Medium Enterprise Entrepreneur of the Year Award, 1999. Chak also served as SCS President from 2012 to 2014 and is one of the SCS's 18 Honorary Fellows.
Chak started his career with Andersen Consulting (now known as Accenture), a global IT and management consulting firm. At Andersen Consulting, he was involved in creating a business-driven information technology strategy, architecture and plan for organisations. He was also their Chief Quality Officer, with overall responsibility for all quality initiatives in its Singapore office.
